Code for Sustainable Homes

Wildflower meadow smallWe have ‘suitably qualified ecologists’ (SQE) who can work with you to achive a high score.

The Code for Sustainable Homes (formerly Ecohomes) and BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) are the standard tools for assessing environmental sustainability of new developments and for refurbishments of existing buildings.

In both Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM assessments, points are available under a range of categories including Ecology. The performance of the development is then assessed against each of these categories and an overall score awarded depending on the number of points achieved.

Dr David Hickie, originally trained as a civil engineer and landscape manager – is an experienced landscape ecologist and ‘suitably qualified ecologist). He used to work for the Environment Agency and now provides cost effective expert ecological advice based on his many years experience on major infrastructure and development projects.

Some of the credits under ecology are only available following a site visit and production of a report by a Suitably Qualified Ecologist (SQE). We are able to provide an SQE to carry out the necessary assessments and to maximize the points that can be awarded under the Ecology sections of the BREEAM Codes.

Our surveys are geared specifically to providing the information to carry out the assessment, in order to maximize the number of credits that can be awarded.

If you would like further information then please do not hesitate to contact us and one of our experienced ecologists will be happy to assist.
